Addendum (2024.06.12):
The regulations surrounding AI image generation services are changing daily, and it has become impossible to generate images using the names of artists. DALL-E2 has ceased operations, and we are now using DALL-E3. However, it appears that even iconic celebrity names can no longer be included in the prompts for DALL-E3.

Therefore, from June 2024 onwards, AI-generated images used in entries will no longer specify styles like “in the style of [artist’s name].”

Considering the rights of individual artists and copyright issues, this outcome was somewhat foreseeable. However, I continued to use style specifications like “in the style of [artist’s name]” in this blog because I believed that merely using a similar style did not constitute a copyright infringement.

Upon further investigation, it seems that the reason for this regulation lies in the AI’s training phase. Essentially, AI should not be trained on copyrighted works.

Nevertheless, under such rules, the styles in which AI can generate images will inevitably be extremely limited. In the extreme, I think it might result in a single “AI style.”

These regulations seem to suggest that creative activities in painting should be reserved exclusively for humans, or at least the core aspects of creative work.

As a painting enthusiast, I think this regulation is ultimately beneficial. Probably, in the long run. On the other hand, there is a part of me that wanted to see the images produced by AI that had learned paintings at an incredible pace without any restrictions.

In any case, these are the new rules, so there is no choice. I will gradually replace images generated in the style of specific artists that are currently published.

On this site, we are posting images generated by AI using Dall E2, Stable Diffusion, Midjourney, etc., focusing mainly on art, especially paintings, under the concept of an “art gallery.”

The simple reason why we are focused on "art," particularly paintings, is the personal preference of the site administrator.

Currently (as of June 2023), I believe we are in the dawn of the generative AI era, and there is also a purpose to verify the accuracy and potential of image generating AI. We are testing AI image generation in conjunction with ChatGPT’s market predictions.

As AI services that generate (or assist in producing) 3D images and videos are beginning to appear, we are considering using them in the future to make the site more visually interesting.

Generating image styles with a focus on art, mainly paintings

The style of image generation is to include the names of famous painters I personally prefer in the input text string, instructing the generation to mimic the style of that artist.

We mainly use Dall E2 and Stable Diffusion, but as of two months ago (April 2023), it seemed that even the styles of well-known painters such as David Hockney and Francis Bacon were not being learned.

Although it seems to be able to handle them to some extent now, the learning level is such that even for such famous artists, the styles of painters who have not clearly crossed borders are not yet usable. We are currently only using super major artists. (As of June 2023)

The subject of image generation is finance-related as this is an investment-related site

Generally, it is said that the images in a blog should match the content of the text on the page, and I agree. On many financial sites, therefore, images of banknotes, foreign exchange markets, chart collages, etc., are used.

While we also use images that assist the information posted on this site as necessary, for entertainment images such as eyecatch images (images displayed with the title at the top of the page), we have decided to treat them as an art gallery, but the themes of the paintings (if they can be called that) are all finance-related, like “trader” or “crypto.”

This is indicated by noting the title + someone’s style under each image, and displaying the name and link of the generation service.
